Breaking the Cardinal Rule – Hudson Crossing Triathlon Race Report

Gather ’round kids for a tale of breaking the cardinal rule of racing. But don’t worry, this story has a happy ending.

This weekend was the Hudson Crossing Triathlon out in Schuylerville, NY. It’s a great race with about 400 athletes traversing through the rural countryside of upstate NY. I did this race last year, and I love the venue. I love it so much, that I have taken to heading out this way for some of my recent long rides.

Suck it Up Buttercup – Anyone Can Tri Race Report

This weekend was the first race of the season- a local sprint triathlon at the Southern Saratoga YMCA. I did this race last year as my first triathlon and loved it. The race is geared towards first timers and I love that there is no pressure and no expectations. I went into the race with very little training, so I wasn’t sure how I was going to do. My first goal was to shave time off last year’s 1:21, and my second goal was to win the age group again.

My mantra for this race was “Suck it up Buttercup”. I knew I would need something to motivate me when I wanted to start easing up. Continue reading
